The Rumely Historic Event Space | Kansas City, Missouri
Some weddings are remembered for one big moment. Casey and Daniel’s wedding stood out because of the thought woven into every detail.
From the colorful florals to the unique bridesmaid dresses, the day felt personal, and completely their own. Their celebration at The Rumely Historic Event Space brought those bright details into a historic industrial setting in the heart of Kansas City.
As their Wedding Day Management team, our role was to bring all of those carefully planned pieces together and manage the behind-the-scenes logistics so Casey and Daniel could enjoy their day.
A Wedding Party Designed Around Personality
One of my favorite parts of this wedding was the thought Casey put into her bridesmaids. Rather than choosing one matching dress, each bridesmaid wore a style and color that felt unique to her. Casey then selected flowers to coordinate with each woman’s dress and personality. The bouquets were not identical, but they still worked beautifully together. When everyone stood side by side, the different colors, patterns, and flowers created one cohesive wedding party.
It was such a meaningful way to let each bridesmaid feel like herself while still being part of the overall vision.
Getting Ready at The Rumely
The day began with Casey and her bridesmaids sharing mimosas and enjoying the excitement of the morning together. Casey got ready in one of The Rumely’s character-filled spaces, surrounded by warm wood floors, antique mirrors, and plenty of natural light. Daniel prepared downstairs in his light blue suit from Slabotsky’s Fine Menswear and Tailoring.
These quieter hours gave everyone time to settle into the day before the celebration officially began.
A First Look and Portraits in the Crossroads
Casey and Daniel shared their first look on The Rumely’s balcony before heading out for portraits around the Kansas City Crossroads. The surrounding industrial architecture was a perfect match for the venue. Historic buildings, textured concrete, brick, and quiet downtown streets gave their portraits a distinctly Kansas City feel.
The soft blue of Daniel’s suit paired beautifully with Casey’s colorful bouquet, while their wedding party brought even more personality to the portraits.
A Candlelit Ceremony at The Rumely
Guests gathered upstairs at The Rumely for an intimate ceremony surrounded by candlelight, soft draping, and colorful floral arrangements.
The warmth of the historic space created a beautiful contrast with the vibrant flowers. Casey and Daniel exchanged vows and completed a unity ceremony combining soil from each of their childhood homes before celebrating with their wedding party in the freight elevator.
Behind the Scenes: Transforming the Freight Elevator Entrance
One of the most important logistics at The Rumely happens in a space guests may never realize has served more than one purpose.
During setup, the freight elevator entrance is the main access point for vendors. Florals, catering equipment, décor, entertainment and band supplies, and other wedding-day items all need to move through that area.
We coordinated vendor arrival and setup times so the freight entrance could be cleared, cleaned, reset, and turned into a welcoming guest entrance with a bar. By the time guests walked in, it looked ready for them. They did not see the deliveries, equipment, or work that had moved through the space earlier.
That is one of my favorite parts of Wedding Day Management. The couple and their guests get to experience a polished celebration without needing to see everything it took to make it happen.
Celebrating Inside The Rumely
Casey and Daniel entered the reception ready to celebrate with their family and friends.
Guests enjoyed dinner from Rudy’s Tenampa, cake from McLain’s Bakery, and live music from Diamond Empire Band. The evening included heartfelt toasts, plenty of laughter, and a reception filled with energy.
Before the night ended, Casey and Daniel stepped outside for one final set of portraits beneath the lights of the Crossroads.
